Something For The Weekend?: Dyatly

Ole Lukkoye – Dyatly
(Ethno/Trance/PsychedelicProg)

Founded in 1989 by multi-instrumentalist/composer Boris Bardash, St Petersburg-based outfit Ole Lukkoye are veterans of the Russian progressive music scene. Dyatli (Woodpeckers), their eighth studio album, offers a heady trip through some trance-inducing, psychedelic soundscapes. Seamlessly blending electronics with ethnic instruments, the music is exotic and deeply mesmerising. An Eastern European version of Ozric Tentacles, driven by tribal beats and vocalist Ness Yanushkovskaya’s hypnotic chanting, inspired by Russia’s age-old shamanistic traditions.
